Recap: River Light 2, Chicago City 1

River Light end their season with a 2-1 victory over Chicago City SC as Logan Finnegan adds another brace to his collection at Spartan Athletic Park. Finishing in third place in the Heartland Division, the Lights finished with seven wins and 24 points.

Despite a strong start, River Light found themselves behind 19 minutes into the first half after a long pass up the field resulted in a quick counter attack for Chicago City.

River Light finally broke through in the 34th as Max Viera ignited an attack, using some cheeky skills to get past Chicago City’s left back allowing a couple of quick passes in the box. Sizing up his opportunities, Nico Bartlett choose to pass it to an unmarked Finnegan who slotted it close to the keeper's near post for the equalizer.

Heading into the locker rooms, River Light tied the game but still had a lot of work to do in the second half if they wanted to finish the season on a high note. Almost 30 minutes into the second half, the Lights found a hole in the City defense as Blaine Mabie laid a short pass to Finnegan for his second of the light.

Even though Chicago City continued to push for an equalizer, River Light stood strong as keeper Alex Flowers along with his back line held it together for the final 20 minutes of the match.

With this final victory, River Light's first season in USL League Two comes to an end and with it soccer in Aurora will take a break. Until next summer!
